Dear 4th-grade and graduate students,
1. The list of technical elective courses to be offered in the 2026-2027 Spring Semester is given in the table below. Our 4th year students or graduate students can take these courses.
2. Our undergraduate students must fill out and submit the preference form, the link of which is provided below, by 17:00 on Friday, September 25, 2026 (until the end of registration) to indicate their preferences.
3. Please note that your last submission before the specified date will be considered as your valid preference and your access to the form will be removed after the specified date.
4. The list of students who can register for the course, determined according to your preferences, CGPA, to the conditions specified in the rules section and the quota of the course, will be announced on our Department website at the beginning of next week.
5. Please note that the preferences you make do not mean registration for the course and that you must add the courses you have selected to the registration system during the add-drop period and receive approval from your advisor. Since you are informed with this letter that the course registration must be made during the add-drop period, registration requests after the add-drop will be rejected.
Rules:
-
All undergraduate students in our department, as well as undergraduate and graduate students from other departments, are required to fill out the preference form provided at the link below.
Form Link: https://forms.gle/sjoUBKVj4ZaB6Wpe9
Graduate students in our department do not need to fill out the form for undergraduate and graduate courses; these courses will be available to them during the registration period.
-
Course capacities will be determined based on the applications received, with the aim of distributing students among the courses as evenly as possible.
-
Graduate students will have priority for master's-level courses. Undergraduate students who wish to take a master's-level course may apply only for PETE509, PETE519, and PETE563. These students will be assigned to any remaining available seats, following an evaluation by the department, after all master's and doctoral students have been placed.
-
Throughout their studies, students may take a maximum of two courses in total related to economics, politics, and law/legislation (such as PETE310, PETE414, and PETE519). Preferences for courses in this group will not be considered for students who have previously taken two such courses.
-
Students from departments other than Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering may also take technical elective courses, provided that they complete the form (the authority to approve such enrollment rests with the instructor of the course). Priority will be given to students from our department.
-
Students who made a technical elective preference in the 2025–2026 Spring semester but did not register for the course for which they were allocated a seat will be assigned to the remaining available seats after all other students have been placed.
-
The criteria specified in the table below will be applied to technical elective courses. Students who are determined, as of the application date, not to meet the relevant criteria will lose their priority for placement in that course. Therefore, you are required to check the criteria carefully before making your course preferences.
